SUNRISE – Herschel Walker is nowhere near the dominant athlete he was 20 or 25 years ago, but he showed Saturday night he can still dominate lesser opponents, even in the unfamiliar field of mixed martial arts.
The 47-year-old Walker, the former Heisman Trophy winner, NFL standout and Olympic bobsledder, defeated Greg Nagy at the 2:17 mark of the third round in a technical knockout in a relatively pedestrian contest on the Strikeforce Miami card.
“The experience was exciting,” said Walker, who was making his MMA debut.
Walker, who only had three months of training, thanked his opponent after the bout.
